CBD (Cannabidoil) is a product derived from cannabis. It is a chemical naturally found in marijuana plants. Even though it comes from marijuana plants, CBD doesn’t create a “high” effect - that is caused by another cannabinoid, THC.

There has been increased awareness regarding the benefits of CBD oil, so we want to highlight the main benefits of CBD oil.

Here are 4 benefits of CBD that are backed by scientific evidence.

Reduce Anxiety

CBD has proven beneficial in treating both anxiety and depression. It is thought that CBD may change the way our brain’s receptors respond to serotonin, the key hormone that stabilises our mood, feelings of well-being and happiness.

Studies on animals have also shown that CBD may help relieve anxiety by improving symptoms of PTSD and has even been shown to induce sleep in cases of insomnia.

Pain Relief

Studies have shown that CBD may reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.

Our bodies produce endocannabinoids, which are neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in the nervous system.

CBD has been shown to relieve symptoms caused by arthritis, muscle pain and chronic pain and is also used by many athletes to aid muscle recovery.

May Reduce Acne

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD may be an effective way to treat acne. One study showed that CBD oil prevented sebaceous glands from secreting excessive sebum, applying anti-inflammatory actions and prevented the activation of “pro-acne” agents.

More studies are needed on this topic, so we would suggest discussing this with a dermatologist before using this to treat acne.

Heart Health

Research has suggested that CBD could have several benefits for the heart and circulatory system, including the ability to lower blood pressure. It has been suggested that the anxiety reducing property of CBD is helpful in lowering blood pressure.

As with anything, there are always side effects and it may not be for everyone. So, we recommend that you complete your own research and consult a medical professional if you are considering taking CBD.
